Aging is a team sport.
At River West Village, we play it together.

River West Village

We’re part of the national Village Movement, neighbors helping neighbors create age‑friendly options that make it possible for older adults in SW Portland to live safely, independently, and joyfully in their own homes.

Our members build friendships close to home by gathering for coffee, walks, discussions, happy hours, and outings. Our volunteers step in with the kind of support friends and family provide: rides, household help, and tech assistance that make daily life easier.

Ours is one of eight Villages in the Villages NW network serving the greater Portland area. Our service area stretches south from I‑405/Highway 26 to the Multnomah County line, and west from the Willamette River to Scholls Ferry Road.

Together at River West Village: What Guides Us

Vision
Our vision is to nurture a vibrant, welcoming community in Southwest Portland where people of all ages - especially older adults - can thrive together. We aspire to create an inter‑generational and interdependent network built on cooperation, friendship, and mutual support. By fostering meaningful connections and providing accessible resources, River West Village envisions a neighborhood where aging is embraced as a shared journey, and every member feels valued, included, and empowered to live safely, independently, and joyfully in their own home.

We envision a community where aging is embraced as a shared journey of dignity and joy.

Mission
Our mission is to sustain a strong nonprofit that empowers members to thrive by giving and receiving support. Through practical services, social engagement, and volunteer connections, River West Village helps individuals maintain independence, strengthen community ties, and enjoy a fulfilling quality of life.

Our mission is to empower members through mutual support, services, and lasting connections.
